Why write Exhibit Smarter now?

I've been working with exhibitors since 2009 and, every few years, I like to challenge myself to expand my impact in a new way...

First, I worked in individual exhibit booths ("standing and smiling"). Next, I started consulting and training individual exhibitors. Then, I started working with exhibition organizers to empower all of their exhibitors...

Now, I want to do more.

Only 30% of organizers offer exhibitor education - that's not just strategy, that's everything (and I expect, for most of those organizers, it's logistics). When I started in this industry, there weren't many college classes, certifications, or other reputable programming focused on exhibiting success... and there are more options today, but still not enough to equip all of the exhibitors worldwide.

Also, have you noticed that there are plenty of business books on the national bestseller lists, but not one that's focused on trade shows (yet)?

I have two big goals for Exhibit Smarter:

1. I've seen how trade shows can impact new and small businesses. I want to help as many startups, small businesses, and corporate marketers thrive as I can. This way, they can waste less money and achieve more of their biggest goals through trade shows... getting better and better show after show.

2. I want to help our industry get more recognition and, frankly, respect. I think, if we had a book on a national bestseller list too, that would give more people an excuse to notice trade shows and realize that exhibiting is something that can/should be studied (there are simple steps that work in this environment - no need to guess or wish). The more momentum we can build through Exhibit Smarter together, the more everyone wins.

Ultimately, I see this book as an opportunity to make a difference and to build a legacy. Thank you, in advance, for your help in accomplishing these goals.
